#SOL18 Day 27

I've made it to March 27th before needing to write the "I am stuck" post. The "I am blank this morning but I showed up and got it done" post. I've sat here, writing and deleting, looking around the room for inspiration, looking into my heart for what to say. Some words are not meant for publishing right now. What else feels worthy to write about?

The clock ticks and takes me closer to the time I need to shower and begin the day. A work bag filled was barely opened. Fluency cards I thought I'd hole punch and put on rings remain exactly where they were when I dropped them on the floor yesterday afternoon. So. Much. To. Do. Never. Enough. Time.

Breathe.
Type.

I'll be looking for inspiration today so tomorrow I'll have a story to tell. Have you easily found topics for posts or found yourself stuck too?

  1. Totally - I try a different genre - for me poetry, 6 word story, lists - that typically helps me. Sometimes I wind up writing that piece other times it takes me somewhere entirely different! 4 more days!

  2. Kathleen, this post is so perfect, because it is so real. THIS is the truth of writing that many kids think only happens to them. ALL writers experience this. I love that you are taking time to reflect and sit with this-be mindful of how it makes you feel, what it prompts you to do, where you go from here...and then you will be a much more empathetic and supportive writing teacher for your students who face this even more often. LOVE your honesty and reflection.

  3. Yep--could only write at the wire yesterday. I don't know what I'll write tonight. Looking for inspiration. Paula's comment is important. Sometimes, when we write so much, we have no more. It's important to remember.

  4. Funny how that happens! Same thing here. I started and stopped five different posts yesterday. You got this!

  5. We all know there are going to be days like that! I had a day today where I planned one post in my head in the morning, started a different post in the afternoon, and just hit publish on a totally different one all together, so I know that the path to writing is anything but straight!

  6. The 27th - that's impressive! (See, it's all a matter of perspective.)

  7. Impressive indeed - day 27 and the first time of dryness!
I have been struggling for a few days now because of stuff going on in my life making it hard to really think and be present to my writing.
Today I looked to the TeachWrite Tribe on Facebook for their word of the day - butter. Of all words, it inspired me with a memory of my mom.

  8. Not to worry...so many of your posts are so beautiful and inspiring. Give yourself a break and a pat on the back for all the things you manage to cram into each day!

  9. You can tell by the number of comments that we have all had these days ourselves. Count yourself lucky if you have only this one. However, you turned yours into a small slice of your life! So you really did have something to say. :-)

  10. Your slice's first sentence qualifies as a celebration :) Best wishes to you for four more days of low-hanging inspiration.

  11. I haven't felt inspired the past couple of days and I feel like it shows in my posts. Just keep showing up and have faith!

  12. I wrote the same in my slice today too! 26 days of stories and then day 27. Nothing. I know there are stories, but there wasn't one grabbing me to share from my heart. But we show up and we write anyway! :)
